Annual “Poor Man’s Breakfast” MLK event starts Monday morning

The annual “Poor Man’s Breakfast” in Columbia will start Monday morning at 8:00 and go until 10:30 at St. Luke’s Methodist Church on Ash Street.

The breakfast is put on every year by the Almeta Crayton Community Programs group.

The meal is part of the group’s annual Dr. King event and all are welcome to attend.

“We’re expecting for the community to come together and sit at a table and word spread for some good old fashioned community talk time,” said program director Kentrell Minton. “Just getting together, putting some strategies and words of encouragement together to go forward into 2015.”

Minton said the group is expecting a crowd of between 250 and 300 people.
