Heater likely cause in deck fire

Columbia fire investigators think a heater caused a deck fire Monday morning.

Around 2:15 a.m. the call came in for a report of a fire in the Sunset Mobile Home Park on Lenoir Street.

Fire officials say a wooden deck attached to a mobile home was on fire. A neighbor saw it and woke up those who lived there and they got out safely.

Investigators think that a heater underneath the deck caused the fire. Damage is estimated at around $500, no one was injured.
