Chadwick reflects on time as first ward councilwoman

The search is on in Columbia for the next city council person.

A few days ago, councilwoman Ginny Chadwick announced she was leaving after less than a year in office.

Chadwick represented the city’s first ward, including parts of downtown and the MU campus.

She faced criticism for voting down a controversial marijuana ordinance and her new law banning cigarette sales for everyone under the age of 21.

ABC 17 asked Chadwick if she was prepared for the experience.

“Absolutely year, believe it or not, you know, I went in with eyes pretty wide open. You know, I had see what Fred Schmidt went through and the negativity, you know I wasn’t the first first ward city council representative to have a recall effort initiated on them,” said Chadwick.
