Road crews prepare for wintry weather

As temperatures drop Friday night, drivers are warned to use caution.

There were hundreds of collisions last January during one of the first freezing rain events of the season.

It’s not expected to be as dangerous this weekend, but the Columbia Public Works Department said drivers should still use caution, as even a small amount can be hazardous.

Both MoDOT and county officials said they are currently on standby.

“We’ll try to get out in front of the storm. And when we see that it’s imminent, we’ll be out. We have everybody notified depending on what time the event hits,” said Mike Glascock with Boone County Public Works.
