State lawmaker’s son attacked by unknown suspects

The son of a state representative is undergoing facial reconstruction surgery following an attack in Columbia, according to his father, Jeff Grisamore, who is from the Kansas City area.

Grisamore tweeted Tuesday, “Requesting prayer for my son, Joel. He just went into facial reconstruction surgery in Columbia after attack by 2 unknown assailants.”

Grisamore went on to say Columbia Police have leads on the attack that apparently left Joel unconscious.

According to Columbia Police, Joel Grisamore said he was assaulted by two white men at theCampus Bar and Grill downtown near Elm and Ninth Street on December 9 at around 10:30 p.m.

Officers are still working to identify the suspects and have interviewed several witnesses.

Grisamore tweeted that his son is currently a sergeant with the Missouri National Guard, a senior at MU, ROTC cadet, and leader of the Mizzouka cannon crew.
