University of Missouri presents former mayor of Columbia with honorary degree

The former mayor of Columbia received a special honor from the University of Missouri during the university’s graduation ceremonies.

MU presented Darwin Hindman a honorary doctor of law degree at the honors ceremony Saturday morning.

Hindman preceded Mayor Bob McDavid and was mayor from 1995 to 2010.

“It just is an outstanding honor,” Hindman said. “It’s something that I had never expected, but with my long ties to the University and the community I really appreciate it and I’m humbled by it, but I’m loving it too.”

Hindman has been an alumnus from the University of Missouri for more than 50 years. He received his bachelor and law degree from the university in 1995 and 1961.
