Quick weather changes the next few days

The mild weather will stay with us Tuesday with a mostly cloudy but dry day. An upper level wave of low pressure will swing across Missouri Tuesday night and Wednesday bringing colder air and a chance of light snow.

Temperatures will stay above freezing Wednesday so any snow that falls will melt on roads but could stick to grassy surfaces. At this time, only a half inch of snow or less is expected in Mid-Missouri but a band of higher snow totals is possible in eastern Missouri with 1-2 inches near St. Louis.

The snow will end Wednesday afternoon and temperatures will drop to near 30 Wednesday night. Winds will shift to the south, sending warmer air in for Christmas with daytime highs in the upper 40s to near 50 through Friday under partly sunny skies.
