Boonville community holds vigil to honor soliders

On Sunday night, the Boonville community gathered to honor fallen soldiers this holiday season.

The group gathered outside around the Daughters of the American Revolution off Main Street downtown.

Cheryl Jensen, the organizer of the event, said she planned the vigil because it represents what Christmas is all about.

“Even though it’s so cold, people gathering and just honoring and remembering is awesome,” she said. “To me, it’s what Christmas is all about, doing something humanitarian just to help somebody out.”

Jensen’s son, Logan Hettinger, was a sergeant in the army. He died in a tragic car accident in Washington.

Jensen said the vigil was held not only to honor her son, but all soldiers who have laid down their lives.
