Marcher’s sing through downtown Jefferson City

The two women who organized the march say they want people to get together for positive reasons.

They said with Christmas right around the corner they want everyone to spread positivity rather than negativity.

With all of the negativity in the world we just thought it would be really cool to bring all races, all denominations, all genders and all ages together to sing Christmas carols through the streets of Jefferson City,” said the event’s coordinator, Betsy Dudenhoeffer.

The march was put together through Facebook and got nearly 4,000 shares.

ABC 17 asked Dudenhoeffer if she had heard about the possibility of Ferguson Protestors coming to the march.

“We just heard that this morning and if they come, they come. This is not a protest.”

Jenny Neff also helped coordinate the march.

“There’s so much positive energy too that a lot of people don’t see and if you get enough people together they could outline and underline the fact that there are people that get along just fine and we can throw all our differences away for a little bit.”

Both Dudenhoeffer and Neff said they feel blessed that nearly 200 people came to sing songs downtown.

They also said they hope this isn’t the last time.

“I think we would love for this to be a tradition. That we do this every year. It’s just a time to get together and have fun and sing and be joyous. That’s it,” said Dudenhoeffer.

The Jefferson City Police Department escorted the marches through downtown.

Police said there was no problems during the march and everything went smoothly.
