Gas prices fall below $2 in Columbia

Saturday, gas prices in Columbia have dropped below $2.00.

Most gas stations sold regular grade gas at $1.99 across the city Saturday.

According to gasbuddy.com, gas prices in Columbia are at the lowest since 2009. And the Missouri average price for fuel is more than 50 cents cheaper than one month ago.

Columbia residents said they welcome the lower gas prices in time for the holidays.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen it below two bucks,” Columbia resident Evan Bean said. “So it’s definitely easy, going to college, definitely easier on the pocket book. During the holidays, especially, it’ll be easier to buy presents for friends or family. Just all around good deal.”

At least 13 states are below the $2 mark, according to Gas Buddy.
