Report: plane engine lost power causing deadly Boonville crash

Federal officials released a preliminary report of what caused a deadly plane crash in Boonville last month, saying the engine lost power while the pilot was trying to land.

A surviving passenger told officials the pilot was able to briefly restore power, but it went out again.

The plane stalled completely about 250 feet off the ground as the pilot prepared for a forced landing.

The crash killed the pilot and seriously injured three other people.
