Former councilwoman announces run for Jeff City mayor
Former Jefferson City Council woman Carrie Tergin announced Monday she is running for mayor.
Anyone who has followed her career on the city council knows Carrie Tergin can have some blunt opinions.
She was a big proponent the conference center getting built downtown and has, at times, stood alone on the council for certain projects.
Monday she told ABC 17 News she is excited to have the chance to bring her positive leadership to the city, and first thing she would do is build on the relationships that are already in place.
“I think we can further that by what we’ve started building on with the state, with the city and with the county, together. I mean we have a new city administrator, and we have departments that we can really coordinate together,” said Tergin.
One of the things she says she would like to build on is the Missouri State Penitentury and the effect it can have on the city.
She says thousands of tourists visit the site every year and the city can do more to capitalize on that.
