Mother arrested for child endangerment after child tests positive for cocaine

A woman was arrested Wednesday for endangering the welfare of a child after a child tested positive for cocaine.

The Pettis County Children’s Division contacted the Sedalia Police Drug Enforcement Unit to investigate in November.

A hair follicle test showed a 2-year-old child was positive for cocaine.

18-year-old Shania Claxton was arrested for 1st degree child endangerment.

The investigation revealed Claxton put her daughter in danger by having her around drug use and drug distribution.

Claxton was taken to the Pettis Co. Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges.
