Terrorist groups linked to social media

Paul Wallace, a terrorist expert at the University of Missouri said terrorist groups like ISIS are becoming more and more sophisticated with social media.

The FBI issued a similar warning in October regarding the social media concerns, but Wallace said there is no real way of stopping terrorists from tapping into social media.

He said the reasons why terrorists are doing this is simple.

“These are terrorist tactics and terrorists tactics instill terror,” said Paul Wallace.

He said social media plays a huge role in not just the hands of terrorists, but also for the U.S.

Wallace goes through the series of events the world has seen, as far as the beheading of Americans.

He said they could have been driven by social media.

Wallace said the U.S. is being proactive about the social media issue and there is only a small threat to the U.S. military.

Wallace said people shouldn’t be so fearful for their lives that they get rid of social media. He said they are just trying to scare Americans.

“That’s what ISIS is trying to do and to the extent that we forbid social media and they are winning.”

Wallace said people can still communicate via social media with those overseas.

He said some people change their names on social media to protect themselves.
