Accountant accused of raping teen found dead
A Boone County accountant accused in early November of raping a Mid-Missouri teen was found dead in his home by his wife Monday.
Boone County Sheriff’s Detective Tom O’Sullivan told ABC 17 News the death is not being considered suspicious.
76-year-old Landers founded Landers, Weiss, and Company, now Landers and Company in 1976.
Landers was charged for statutory sodomy along with Jerry Colster.
Court documents said Colster and Landers had sexual contact with a 14-year-old victim between 2011 and 2012.
Landers had no previous criminal history and served on Columbia College’s Board of Trustees and the board of local banks.
Landers was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
