Volunteers prepare Thanksgiving dinner baskets for “Everybody Eats”

Saturday, Columbia volunteers prepared hundreds of Thanksgiving meal baskets for the Almeta Crayton’s Everybody Eats program.

This is the 17th year “Everybody Eats” has been in Columbia. About 30 volunteers assembled baskets Saturday.

Kentrell Minton, Chair of Almeta Crayton’s Community Programs, says volunteers will deliver baskets to senior and disabled citizens today. And the rest of the baskets will be delivered to the community on Monday and Tuesday.

Minton says volunteers are preparing more than 560 Thanksgiving baskets for those in need.

Kentrell Minton, Almeta Crayton’s Community Programs Chair: “Each basket we have cornbread, we have cake mix, we have yams, we have instant potatoes, we have green beans, we have corn, we have stuffing, we have the turkey, we have butter, eggs, everything you need to make that dinner go swell.”

The annual Everybody Eats Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday in the Stamper Commons of Stephens College from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
