Theft leads to police chase in Jefferson City

Three people from St. Louis were arrested Wednesday after allegedly stealing from a Jefferson City store and leading police on a chase into Callaway County.

The three apparently robbed Dick’s Sporting Goods and fled to downtown Jefferson City. JCPD found the suspect car at West Main and West High. When officers tried to stop the car the suspects swerved toward the patrol car.

The suspects were able to get away and led police on a chase onto Highway 54 east toward Holts Summit.

Once the chase reached Holts Summit, the Holts Summit Police, Missouri Highway Patrol, and Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies took over.

The vehicle continued to lead police into Fulton, where they were able to lay down spikes to deflate the suspects’ tires.

All three suspects were arrested and taken back to Jefferson City.

Stolen items are valued at more than $3,000.

The suspects face possible felony stealing, assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest by fleeing, and traffic offense charges.
