Volunteers prepare for “Everybody Eats”

Volunteers are preparing for the annual “Everybody Eats” tradition in Columbia.

“Everybody Eats” is a project started by Almeta Crayton that includes turkey meal basket donations for families in need and a community Thanksgiving dinner.

“Everybody Eats” chair Kentrell Minton, Crayton’s god son, says they have had about 500 families apply for baskets so far this year. And more applications are coming in each day.

About 120 volunteers have helped out so far, but Minton says they need about 75 more.

Spokesman Scott Cristal says more help would be greatly appreciated.

Scott Cristal, “Everybody Eats” spokesman: “Because there’s so many applications and so many people will be coming to Thanksgiving dinner, more donations are going to be needed. The response has just been overwhelming, which is really good to see that this continues and shows how important this has on the community here.

Cristal says this year, “Everybody Eats” will be held at Stephens College in the Stamper Commons from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
