ABC 17 gets details on Victoria’s Bridal owner’s arrest
According to the court documents ABC 17 got today, not only did the did the Jefferson City Police Department go in undercover to find several tuxedos that belonged to Anderson’s Formal Wear, JCPD got a search warrant for Victoria’s Bridal and found a combined total of 200 tuxedo’s and coats that belonged to Anderson’s.
On top of that there were more than one hundred pants and tuxes that were also recovered during the search.
The documents said Metternich claimed she bought the tuxedo’s, but Anderson’s said Metternich has never bought suits, only accessories.
Ann Metternich was indicted for theft charges in the year 2011.
Court documents show how police uncovered the tuxedo’s from Victoria’s Bridal.
Anderson’s formal wear claims in the documents that Victoria’s Bridal should not have had any of the tuxes in the Jefferson City store.
It said shipments of tuxes accidentally went to Victoria’s Bridal and when Anderson’s contacted Metternich about it, she denied receiving the shipment.
Metternich said she was a “respectable business woman in Jefferson City and was not a bad person.”
In the documents police said quote, “Metternich was very upset and appeared to be crying, but there were no tears.”
Metternich claimed she had paid Anderson’s Formal Wear back.
When police asked for the invoices for the tuxes she had she said she didn’t have her invoices for that year.
Police repeatedly asked Metternich why she had property belonging to Anderson’s and she responded saying, “Anderson’s record keeping is all messed up.”
Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson said the only thing he can comment on is the reason the case is taking so long is because of the bad record keeping in the case.
Metternich has reportedly moved to Iowa and her Facebook page is down.
ABC 17 reached out to her attorney, Dan Hunt, and he said this is basically two businesses going through a dispute.
The Better Business Bureau said they have received one complaint against Victoria’s and that was in regard to a billing issue.
