Vote 2014 results: Columbia Proposition 1 fails

Columbia Proposition 1 failed after Tuesday’s election in Boone County.

The proposition would have increased property taxes by six cents every year for five years, a total raise of 30 cents.

That would have brought the property tax in Columbia to 71 cents per every $100 of assessed value.

The extra funds would have went toward public safety, such as police and fire department and municipal court.

ABC 17 covered this issue extensively prior to election day.
