Special prosecutor assigned to Shayne Healea case
A special prosecutor has been assigned after the Moniteau Co. prosecutor allegedly backed his truck into a downtown Columbia restaurant last weekend, injuring 4 people.
36-year-old Shayne Healea was arrested Saturday after crashing into Addison’s Grill on Cherry Street.
Boone County Prosecutor Dan Knight filed a motion to appoint a special prosecutor earlier this week.
Assistant Attorney General Julie Tolle was assigned to the case.
Prosecutor Dan Knight serves as the President of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, and Healea serves with him on the Board of Directors as President-elect.
Knight cited his professional relationship with Healea as a reason to file a motion for a special prosecutor.
Columbia Police said Healea left the scene and parked his truck in front of the Tiger Hotel and was arrested in an alley near the crash.
He was arrested for four counts of second degree assault and for leaving the scene of an accident.
Healea was taken to the Boone County Jail and was held on a $22,500 bond. He posted bond early Sunday morning.
