Suspect in stolen truck arrested after standoff

Fulton police have arrested a man after a chase involving a truck and an 8-hour standoff.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers saw a truck matching the description of one reported stolen from a Callaway County address. They tried to stop the truck, but the driver kept going. That started a chase which ended near county roads 216 and 217.

At that point, according to police, the driver of the truck – identified as Jodey Stuart – pulled out a handgun and threatened to harm himself. After about 8 hours, Stuart was arrested without incident for tampering, resisting arrest, burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Inside the stolen truck, officers found guns taken in an earlier burglary in Fulton. A woman who was in the stolen truck with Stuart was also detained. Investigators say further charges are possible.
