Columbia pond overflowing after heavy rainfall

A pond off a major road in Columbia has started overflowing, potentially compromising a nearby dam.

Water has also started running down the sidewalk along the road.

The pond is on property off Clark Lane near the roundabout at St. Charles Road.

ABC 17 News talked with the Columbia Fire Department, and that department called the have the city inspectors look at the area.

The inspectors from the Building and Site Development department said there’s not an immediate threat, but the property owner will have to make some changes to stop the water flow.

After more than nine inches of rain since the first of the month, flooding hasn’t been an uncommon sight in Boone County. And now the pond is seeing the effects.

ABC 17 News is told the Building and Site Development department is going to work directly with the property owner to address the needs.
