Chick-fil-A could be coming to Columbia
One of the nation’s hottest fast food chains may be looking to make Columbia its home.
ABC 17 News learned today that Chick-Fil-A is eying a location on the west side of the city.
As of Sept 12 building plans were submitted for a Chick-fil-A in Columbia.
However, the building owner out of Atlanta told ABC 17 News the real estate deal has not been finalized yet.
He did not want to comment further on what the deal is.
But Jason Hill filed an application with the city of Columbia almost one month ago to put the restaurant where the current Macaroni Grill sits on Stadium Blvd.
The commercial permit and plan review application filed by Hill with the city state plans are to demolish the existing Macaroni Grill Restaurant and construct a new Chick-fil-A Restaurant with a double drive-thru.
Plans on file with the city’s Community Development Department, which ABC 17 News looked at Thursday show just that.
The plans show a more than 42,000 sq. foot building valued at $700,000.
ABC 17 News spoke with a manager at Macaroni Grill Thursday afternoon.
He said he has heard rumors about a Chick-fil-A but nothing official.
ABC 17 News called the property owner, the Kroenke Group several times but has not yet heard back if it’s currently working on a plan to sell or lease the land.
Hill said he hopes to have the real estate issue resolved by the end of the year, and have the restaurant built by sometime next year.
