Man arrested after high speed chase, mother charged for assaulting deputy

Two people were arrested following an early Sunday high speed chase through Callaway County.

Callaway County deputies tried to stop a black Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding on Callaway Co. Road 304 near the Fulton Airport.

Deputies said the Jeep sped away at nearly 100 miles per hour.

Deputies chased 45-year-old Stacy Black and 23-year-old Joshua Black of Fulton for 20 miles through the county. The Jeep was eventually found upside down and abandoned on County Road 343 in Millersburg.

Deputies searched the wooded area near the car for the driver and came up empty handed.

Deputies found out Monday Joshua Black was staying with his mother, Stacy, in the 700 block of Nichols Street in Fulton.

When they arrived to arrest Black, Stacey assaulted the arresting deputy.

Joshua was charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting arrest, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, careless and impaired driving, exceeding the posted speed limit by 26 mph or more, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Stacy was charged with 3rd degree assaulting a law enforcement officer, and interfering with a felony arrest.

Joshua is currently in the Callaway County Jail, and Stacy posted bond.
