Accused Callaway Co. killer declines right to trial, attorney after admitting to parole violation

The man accused of killing a 6-year-old Callaway County boy last month appeared in Boone County court Monday.

27-year-old Scott Willet is charged with first degree murder after admitting to shooting Dayne Hathman.

He’s also charged with tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property, and 1st degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Willet was on probation at the time of the shooting, and admitted Monday to absconding parole in Boone County.

In court Monday, Willet declined the right to an attorney and to a trial, and asked a judge to sentence him for being a parole absconder.

Willet was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections with credit for time already served.
