Kim Anderson indefinitely suspends Gant, Allen
Missouri men’s basketball coach Kim Anderson suspended freshmen Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen, he announced Monday night. Gant and Allen were arrested last weekend on suspicion of third degree assault, which is a misdemeanor in Missouri.
According to the Columbia Police arrest report, officers were called to the corner of 8th and Elm in downtown Columbia at 1:30 Sunday morning. The police then arrested Allen and Gant at their residence off Kentucky Blvd. on the MU campus around 2 A.M.
All three were arrested, but then released on summons, according to the report. They were not booked in Boone County Jail.
“We are aware of the situation involving Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen, and have suspended them from team-related activities as we gather more information,” Anderson said in a statement.
It is unclear how long the two players will be out or what exactly happened that morning.
We have high standards for the conduct of our student-athletes and expect much more from them as members of our program,” Anderson continues in the statement.
This is the second off-court incident Anderson has dealt with in his short tenure as Missouri’s head coach. Anderson dismissed Torren Jones in August for an unspecified violation of team rules.
