Body found in Moniteau Co. identified as Jefferson City man

The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed a body found in rural Moniteau County August 9 is Cody Odean Thirlwall, 32, of Jefferson City.

His body was found by a hunter outside Russellville near Route A and Stone Creek Road, about 25 miles southwest of Jefferson City.

According to his funeral home, Thirlwall used to work at Alexandro’s Restaurant and Command Web in Jefferson City.

The cause and circumstances surrounding Thirlwell’s death are still under investigation. Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Hunter said on Monday an anthropologist will try to determine the cause of death.

Thirlwall was charged in February with second-degree burglary for breaking into a Jefferson City home. A Cole County judge issued an arrest warrant for him in late June, after he failed to appear for a hearing on the charge.
