One arrested, two on the loose after Moberly bank robbery

The manhunt for two remaining suspects in a Moberly bank robbery has been called off.

Police said Saturday they’re still looking for the two men on the loose. Moberly Police Chief Tarr said he urges anyone that may have information about the bank robbery or the suspects to call police.

ABC 17 News confirmed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol a 25-year-old black man was arrested, but two suspects remain on the loose after a bank robbery in Moberly Friday morning. Deputies also towed away a car possibly tied to the crime, after it was found in a commuter lot near Highway 22 and Highway 63 north of Columbia.

Multiple agencies were searching for two suspects after reports Bank Midwest was robbed at the corner of Morley and Taylor around 9:45 a.m. The suspect apparently used a weapon in the crime.

On neighbor close to the bank told ABC 17 News his wife saw a gold car with two black men inside and a car following close behind before the robbery happened at the bank. The passenger in the gold car then took a gun and shot back at the car behind him.

Moberly Police said one suspect went into the bank and took an unknown amount of money. Witnesses reported seeing at least two other people in the gray suspect car. A gunshot was heard coming from the vehicle, and but no one was hurt during the incident.

The Missouri Highway Patrol had helicopters searching for the robbers, as well as troopers on foot.

A fourth canine unit was brought in from Monroe City around noon.

Sturgeon R-V Schools were placed on a modified lock down just after 10 a.m., meaning students are free to move around inside, but no one is allowed in or out of the building.
