Overnight armed robbery in central Columbia

Police confirmed Loop Liquor & Food Mart was robbed by a suspect with a gun late Wednesday night off the Business Loop in central Columbia.

Officers said a man with a handgun demanded money from the store clerk. He ran from the scene with cash.

A police dog searched for the robber, but nothing was found. The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s. He was last seen wearing a hat, long jean shorts and a light-colored t-shirt.

Anybody who has information is asked to call the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
