Torren Jones dismissed from Mizzou basketball team
Mizzou basketball has dismissed Torren Jones for an undisclosed violation of team rules, the school announced Friday.
“We have high standards at the University of Missouri and after consulting with Mike Alden, I have made the decision to dismiss Torren Jones from our program,” Head Coach Kim Anderson said in a statement. “I am disappointed in Torren’s actions and want to be very clear about the culture of accountability we are building within our program. It’s a privilege to wear the University of Missouri uniform and we will represent our University and our state with great integrity.”
There is uncertainty surrounding Jones’ dismissal. Boone County public records do not indicate any pending or current legal case involving the former Mizzou forward.
Jones averaged 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds a game as a reserve for the Tigers last season. His scored a season-high eight points in games against Tennessee and Mississippi State. Jones grabbed a career high 11 rebounds against Auburn this past season.
Playing time would have been scarce for Jones this upcoming year. In addition to playing behind potential returning starters Johnathan Williams III and Ryan Rosburg, Jones would have had to compete with senior Keanau Post along with freshmen Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen.
