Mizzou athletics news and notes: August 7
NFL Preseason Football
Chase Daniel went 8-10, 126 yards, TD and INT against the Chiefs 41-39 win over the Bengals. Meanwhile, former MU quarterback Blaine Gabbert had a lackluster showing. Gabbert went 3-11, 20 yards and an INT in San Francisco’s 23-3 loss to Baltimore.
Mizzou softball
Ehren Earleywine’s team picked up a third starting pitcher on Thursday, as Missouri announced the transfer of Omaha righty Cheyenne Baxter. She pitched 46.1 in the 2014 season for Omaha with a 3.78 ERA. Baxter will pitch behind ace Tori Finucane and freshman sensation Paige Lowary in the 2015 season.
Mizzou basketball
The Mizzou women’s basketball team announced it will play a game against Missouri State on December 30th at the Sprint Center in KC. Game time has yet to be announced. But an MU statement said the women’s game will be four hours before the Mizzou men play Oklahoma State.
