Pedestrian and bicyclist hit by car in Columbia

Two people were hit by a car in Columbia tonight within 20 minutes of one another.

The first incident on Clark Lane just before 6:30 in front of the Super 8 motel.

Eyewitnesses told ABC 17 News that a woman was backed over by a car and she was found underneath the vehicle.

She was conscious and breathing.

She is is currently being treated at University Hospital.

The second, a bicyclist on Providence Rd. near Douglass high school was struck by a car.

The north bound lane on Providence was completely closed off.

Police told ABC 17 News they do not believe the man’s injuries are life threatening.

Right now investigators are working to figure out if the bicyclist was crossing the street at a cross walk.
