Three shootings in the Lake of the Woods area this week

A string of violent crimes bring a warning for one Boone County neighborhood Wednesday night.

Deputies are still looking for suspects in three shootings just this week.

Wednesday, one man remains in the hospital after being shot in the stomach.

All three shootings happened in the neighborhood east of Columbia- the Lake of the Woods area.

While the three shootings did happen within less than a mile from one another, Boone County detectives told ABC 17 News it is too soon in the investigation to know if they are linked to one another.

The first of three shootings in Boone County happened at the roundabout off the Lake of the Woods exit.

Last Friday, a man reported his car was shot at as he was driving east on St. Charles Road.

“The car was hit once, and we did locate a number of shell casings in the street at that location,” said Detective Tom O’Sullivan.

The second call came on Monday morning from a man on Trikalla Street.

He said he was asleep when three masked men entered his home, shot him, and stole a purse and cell phone.

A woman and five-year-old boy home were not injured.

“A man was shot in the abdomen during a home invasion where we believe robbery was the motive,” said O’Sullivan.

The most recent shooting deputies responded to was Monday night on Demaret Drive.

“We found some shell casings in the middle of the street,” said O’Sullivan.

O’Sullivan told ABC 17 News they have not arrested anyone and no one is in custody.

He did say the department has some ideas as to who may be responsible for the shootings.

O’Sullivan is urging everyone in the Lake of the Woods area to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.

“Demaret drive, Trikalla, Fredricky, these areas have always historically been hot spots for the sheriff’s department,” said O’Sullivan.
