Witness describes last time seeing missing man

Investigators are still searching a Jefferson City landfill for the body of a man who has been missing since last month.

23-year-old Christopher Cray has been missing since May 20.

Last week, Richard Love was arrested for sending a threatening text message to a witness who saw Christopher Cray hours before his disappearance.

Erin Starke told ABC 17 News Cray and his fiance and kids spent the night at her home on the night of May 20th.

Police said Cray was last seen at Schnuck’s, but Starke said right before he went to the store he was at her house.

She said the couple had been spending time with friends and that sometime in the early morning Cray left and never came back.

Starke said, “They left Michelle and her three kids there, she was pregnant. They just left her there and for days she was at my house with her kids. I could barely take care of them. We were struggling to take care of him, didn’t know where he was, we were freaking out and it was a very horrible situation.”

Starke said she filed an affidavit Monday saying her and Richard Love, one of the key suspects in the homicide case, were in a relationship at the time of the arrest.

She said prior to him being arrested, he did apologize for his threatening text messages, which police cite as the reason for his arrest.

Jefferson City Police said they will continue to search the landfill regardless of the weather conditions.
