Police searching for suspect in armed robbery in north Columbia neighborhood

A suspect is on the run after an armed robbery in a north Columbia neighborhood.

Officers said just before 3 a.m. Saturday morning, a man approached a woman in the 1500 block of Greensboro Drive. He showed a gun, then struck the victim in the face with the pistol before taking off with her purse.

Police brought in a K-9 unit to try to track the suspect, but didn’t find him.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’5″ between 130-145 pounds. He has a mustache, ponytail, and was wearing a blue jacket.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Columbia police.
