Columbia bus hits pedestrian

An investigation was underway Wednesday night after a Columbia Transit bus hit a pedestrian early that morning.

Columbia police responded to a crash outside Wabash Station on 10th and Ash Streets just after 8:00 a.m.

Sources told ABC 17 News the man was walking the downtown intersection on his way to work.

The bus driver called police to report the accident, and is not driving buses for the time being per internal procedures, according to Steve Sapp of Columbia Public Works.

The man was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There was no update on his condition as of Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The city and Columbia police continued to investigate the incident. It was not clear who would be considered at fault in this incident.
