Jays, Crusaders girls soccer fall in semis

Jefferson City girls soccer could not stop a high-octane St. Teresa Academy offense, as the Lady Jays lost 5-0 in the Class 3 state semifinals in Blue Springs. Jeff City made its first ever appearance in the state semifinals after its 4-0 quarterfinals win against Nixa last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Helias came back with six minutes remaining in regulation. Tiffany Weaver scored for the Crusaders in the second half. However, Kearney scored with 33 seconds left in overtime, halting Helias’ hopes of making a second straight title game appearance.
