Bruins baseball takes state title from defending champs

Rock Bridge baseball earns its first ever state title after taking down defending Class 5 champion Francis Howell on Friday. The Bruins (24-12) won the championship game 9-6.

Junior Logan Twehous, who pitched a three-hit-shutout in the semifinal, had two hits and 3 RBI. Conner Brumfield ended up with the game-winning RBI hit in the fourth inning to make it a 7-2 Bruin lead. Matt Wildhalm also added an RBI to pad the Rock Bridge lead.

Ryan Bernskoetter relieved Chandler Wyatt in the second. Bernskoetter pitched five innings, giving up two runs, for the Bruins while Avery Jennings closed out the state title game for Rock Bridge.
