Firehouse Subs gives a $20,000 grant to JC Fire Department
Firehouse Subs in Jefferson City donated almost $20,0000 in equipment to the Jefferson City Fire Department.
Until Tuesday, Columbia was the only town in central Missouri that had the life saving equipment.
Jason Turner, Fire Chief of Jefferson City said, “This will let us expand our services we’ve been limited on for several years.”
“It’s a struggle to prioritize what we actually can use with our organization and exactly what we need. So, making sure we get the equipment on special projects like this with the cooperation of Firehouse Subs is an advantage to us, working with them and building those partnerships,” said Turner.
The new equipment is updated and allows firefighters to breath safely in hazardous atmospheres.
Meghan Bargas, the development manager of Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation said, “The Jefferson City Fire Department applied for funding through our grant program. They needed this equipment. Hopefully now they can save lives.”
The Firehouse Subs Safety Foundation was created after Hurricane Katrina.
Co-founders of the restaurant fed first responders, as well as survivors of the natural disaster.
Firehouse Subs opened their first restaurant in Missouri in 2012.
Since then, they have raised over $180,000 for the grant program.
