Comets’ comeback falls short against Irish in semis

On Tuesday, Fatima high school baseball fell to Springfield Catholic in the state semi-final 6-4.

Comets first got on the board at the top of the 6th and trailing 6-1.

At the top of the 7th, Fatima went on a scoring spree and cut the lead to 6-4.

With two outs, two runners on base, Hunter Hennier hits a deep fly ball, almost a home run, but Springfield Catholic makes the catch at the wall to win the game.

Fatima falls to 21-10, will play in Class 3 third-place game Wednesday at 10:30.

Also on Tuesday, Linn defeated Archie 8-1 for third place and finishes the season with a 23-5 record.
