Mosquito spraying starts on Columbia trails

Summer humidity brings pesky mosquitoes to parks and trails in Columbia.

Columbia Parks and Recreation and the Columbia-Boone County Health Department will start spraying for mosquitoes along trails in Columbia on Monday.

The work was scheduled for between midnight and 6 a.m. because lower temperatures are when mosquitoes are most active.

The city said in a news release that residents who live along trails in Columbia would see a small, red Chevy truck spraying on Friday mornings through early fall.
