Mid-Missouri killer still on the loose

A homicide suspect is still on the loose after a man was stabbed to death at his apartment Wednesday night.

Richard Bennett, 40, was found by his neighbor outside of his apartment in need of medical treatment.

Boone County deputies took Bennett to University Hospital, where he died several hours later.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan said, “We’re continuing to investigate a number of theories and a number of possibilities. We haven’t focused on any one particular possibility.”

“You have to do that in a homicide investigation. You have to be open with theories and keep an open mind. We’re being very methodical and going back over the evidence and getting it ready for the Highway Patrol’s crime lab, “O’Sullivan said.

“It’s still a top priority of the department and we are optimistic it will end with an arrest,”O’Sullivan said.

Bennett’s autopsy is scheduled for Friday, May 30th.
