“Doom” charged in federal indictment for distributing heroin to teen

A Columbia man was charged Wednesday in a one-count indictment by a federal grand jury for distributing heroin to a Columbia teen who died of a suspected heroin overdose.

A federal criminal complaint was filed against 27-year-old Jon Patrick “Doom” Washington on May 7.

The government has filed a motion asking to have Washington held in federal custody without bond until the detention hearing, when the judge will rule on the government’s motion.

According to court documents, prosecutors said Washington is a flight risk and a danger to the community.

If convicted, Washington faces up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine.

According to a federal complaint, Washington allegedly gave heroin to 16-year-old Morgan Myers on April 2.

Myers was found dead of an apparent heroin overdose in Providence Inn & Suites on April 3.

A confidential informant later reported that the heroin had been supplied by Washington and one other person, who was identified as “C-Bo” in a supporting affidavit.

“C-Bo” has been fully identified and has not been charged.

Washington was questioned by Columbia Police on April 3rd.

During questioning, Washington admitted to police that he injected Morgan Myers with heroin on April 2.

Washington told police that after the initial heroin injection, “C-Bo” told him to inject her again as she was drifting in and out of consciousness. He did, and then left the motel room.

He returned and performed rescue breathing on Myers when a friend sent him a text message telling him she wasn’t doing well.

Washington again left the motel room only to return around 4 a.m. and found Myers without a pulse, prompting him to call 911 and tell dispatchers that he found her unresponsive in his room.

The Boone County Medical Examiner has not released an official cause of death for Morgan Myers.
