JC council scheduled to vote on two major development projects

The Jefferson City council is set to make two major votes Monday night.

The Capital 8 theaters by the Capital Mall want to add one theater and upgrade the existing theaters. The project was approved 8-0 by the Planning and Zoning Commission and is scheduled to get a vote before the council Monday evening.

The council is also set to vote on authorizing a contract with J.C. Industries, Inc. for the Dunklin and Lafayette intersection. The bill would authorize a contract for $1,087,707 with J.C. Industries for improvements to the intersection.

This is a joint city and county project in advance of the additional traffic brought by the Highway 50 and Lafayette Street interchange slated to begin in December.

The project includes the reconstruction of the stormwater system, sidewalks and the addition of a new traffic light. Jefferson City is covering half of the project’s cost, using the half-cent capital improvement sales tax.
