The Cole County Commission has decided to place a county-wide zoning issue on the August ballot.
The decision was made in Friday morning’s meeting.
Currently Cole County Public Works is holding a series of informational public meetings to go over the proposed zoning plan and code.
The purpose of the meetings is to help people better understand the option when they vote on the zoning request later this summer.
The Commission also approved a contract with MoDOT to fix up a stretch of highway in Jefferson City.
It’s a nearly $1.5 million project which is part of a larger, roughly $18 million plan to improve Highway 50 between Monroe and Clark Streets.
It includes an interchange for Lafayette Street.
The plan is to elevate the Lafayette, Chestnut, and Jackson Street bridge.
They’ll also add new lights, railings, signs, and retaining walls along the roadway.
MoDOT crews are expected to start on the project later this year, taking at least two years to completely finish the project.
