Plow truck hero injured in serious motorcycle accident
After a snowstorm in Columbia in March 2013, hundreds of cars were stranded, blocking routes on major roadways. An ambulance transporting a man suffering from a heart attack needed to get through. That’s when Brandon Irwin, a worker for Boone County Public Works, helped plow a path all the way to University Hospital and helped saved a life.
Now, a year later, Brandon remains in University Hospital in serious condition after a motorcycle accident on Monday. The crash happened south of Columbia on Highway 63.
A poker run in honor of Brandon will be held at 9 a.m. on May 3. So far, six area bars have signed up to participate, including the Mokane Bar and Grill in Mokane. All of the proceeds will go directly to the family. For more information about the event, call Mel Atteberry at 573-310-1221.
