Suspect caught after Columbia manhunt

Police arrested Brian Porter of Columbia early Monday morning after multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a manhunt late Sunday night.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper told ABC 17’s Jillian Fertig the agencies were looking for an armed suspect who had run toward an apartment complex near Whitegate Drive.

Roads in the area, including parts of Clark Lane, Whitegate Drive and Towne Drive were closed as the search was underway.

Police tell us it started when an officer spotted a man who matched the description in a robbery case. They were able to pull him over at Towne and Sylvan, but he took off running.

Police identified him as Porter. They got information on where he might be and arrested him around 2 a.m. Monday at an apartment off Old Highway 63.

Police tell ABC 17 News they think he might have ran because a gun was found in the car.

They also determined he was not the suspect in the robbery after all.
