String of car break-ins north of Columbia, one arrested

A Columbia teenager landed in jail Friday morning for allegedly breaking into several vehicles north of Columbia. Boone County authorities got the first 911 call from a man reporting an open garage off Moberly Drive around 5:20 a.m. Friday.

Shortly afterwards, a deputy stopped D’Angelo Carter near the same neighborhood and took him into custody after he gave conflicting statements.

At the same time, other 911 calls from the area started coming in reporting more thefts from cars.

Deputies later found items on Carter including a stolen credit card, computer tablet, MP3 player and watch. They also claim he had a small amount of marijuana on him.

Boone County investigators believe Carter is connected to other thefts from vehicles on Creasy Springs Road, Country Squire Drive, Moberly Drive and Mauller Road.
