Police investigating two shots fired calls in Columbia

Police are investigating two overnight shots fired calls in Columbia about an hour apart, but say there is no evidence the two incidents are related.

Officers were on patrol in the 900 block of Business Loop when they heard several shots fired. Several people also called Joint Communications to report gunfire in the same area.

Police found one bullet in the road at North Boulevard and Coats Street.

No witnesses came forward and no injuries were reported.

About an hour later, officers were called to Citadel and Derby Ridge in reference to a shots fired call.

Officers found nine shell casings on the west side of Derby Ridge on the sidewalk.

There were also six bullet holes in a home in the 1700 block of Bold Ruler. This was the same home where shots were fired on March 13.

The residents were not home at the time of the shooting.

There were no injuries reported for this shots fired, either.

At this time, police have no leads on suspects and the investigation is still ongoing.
